Rainstorms and Wine Can Bring Unexpected Luck

So many wines at wine:30….I love the chardonnays

A rainy summer eve I met my long time friend (and some time commuter buddy) Linda for drinks at a wine bar I’d been wanting to try.  Always good to have a wine lover on an adventure like this.  We sat in the back patio – which has a very cool wall made with wine bottles.

It was raining, with the corner of the patio roof letting some of the rain in near our table.  We stayed for a second glass based on the speed of the mini streams coming down the pretty brick wall.  After many laughs about the follies of our industry, we made our way out of the bar, wondering if our walk to Grand Central would soak us.  Wouldn’t you know it, but the second we stepped out of the bar an EMPTY cab pulled up!  If you know NYC, that is amazing luck!

Topping our unexpectedly lucky day, we saw a rainbow over a billboard that featured one word “GRATITUDE.”

Rainbow over Gratitude

Rainbow over Gratitude

Gratitude is definitely one way for adventures to show up even more, I truly believe.  I was grateful for a friend to join me on a rainy Wednesday evening.  The laughs were unexpected.  The cab was even more unexpected (and much appreciated).  It seems the Universe sent the point of having gratitude for all things, big and small, with the rainbow over the billboard!

Tell me in the comments below if nature has shown up and shifted your adventure, and what happened.  I’d love to know.

Sometimes to shift your outlook on life, you need to shift your perspective by traveling somewhere unfamiliar, or seeing familiar places in new ways.  It was while I was in another country that I realized – everywhere is someone’s backyard!  I’ve also become a big fan of traveling to one place that is wildly different each year – an event in the Nevada desert called “Burning Man”
